OUR STORY

Onion rings are real classics, although they are not very well known in the Netherlands. We want to change that! On this page, we showcase our different types of onion rings, explain how they are made, and we also give serving tips so that your guests can enjoy them optimally. With the serving tips, you can create dishes that are perfect for serving in your business, but also highly suitable for delivery and takeaway. Our onion rings are delicious!

It started with the onion ring
Did you know that Le Duc owes its success to onion rings? More than 15 years ago, we were inspired by onion rings in the United States, which have been very popular there for a long time. This traditional variant is made of a whole onion ring with a crispy coating. Le Duc brought this product to Europe, but we also developed a second unique variant alongside it. With the idea of making the onion ring accessible to a larger public, we formed a ring out of small pieces of onion, which is made crispy with different coatings. It became a unique product that was especially popular in the United Kingdom and with quick service restaurants. It was a special variation on the classic product that many people love so much.

Onions on the menu
In the Netherlands, onion rings have been growing in popularity, especially in recent years. A traditional Dutch drinks session calls for bitterballen (mini meat croquettes), of course, but growing demand for vegetarian products has made the snack menu ever more varied. As a result, onion rings are now increasingly on the menu in our country. Le Duc has five different types of onion rings in its range. Two classic variants, two variants made in Le Duc's unique way, and Onion Nests: thinly sliced onions shaped like a nest in a tasty and crunchy Southern-fried coating.

The classic onion rings
The Natural Onion Rings are made of freshly sliced onion rings, and have a luxurious appearance. These are the ones you and your guests know and love! These onion rings are ideal as a garnish, for example on a veggie burger. Because they are made of fresh onion rings, they contain about 35% onion. They have an extra thick coating of up to 3-5 layers, making the rings deliciously crispy. For the Beer Battered variant, we add some beer to the coating. The carbon dioxide in the beer makes the rings even lighter and crispier.

Our unique onion rings
The unique Le Duc onion rings are shaped from small pieces of onion. The advantage of this variety is that it contains a lot of onion: at least 57%. They have a 2-3 layer coating that is built up from the inside out. Out Battered Onion Rings are coated in crispy batter and our Breaded Onion Rings are covered with a breaded coating. These onion rings are perfect to accompany drinks, or as a starter with a tasty sauce.
